Hello
and welcome to Butterflies And Things ~. My name is Connie Hurt and throughout the world I'm known as The
Butterfly Lady. Since 1977 Ive
provided clients with the finest quality insect
specimens. Over the years Ive specialized in Birdwing
Butterflies and Gloss Swallowtails of Indonesia.
In addition, Ive focused on Morpho's and Helliconias from South America.
Many of my clients are prestigeous museums, schools, authors,
rsearchers, scientists and fellow hobbyists. Traveling
extensively, we welcome opportunities to view other collections
and we appraise collections, having expertise in liquidating specimens
and estates.

Locally, my husband John
and I enjoy educating the public. We offer schools and social groups
Butterfly and Insect Shows with hands on activities.
Our network of suppliers
come from the most exotic regions and islands on earth. Some of
these people are highly skilled entomologists catching insects in
the wild or they breed insects in captivity. Other suppliers include
people in third world countries who earn a living as butterfly and
insect catchers.
Butterfly
Farming has become popular in recent years and we strongly support
these efforts because Farming has proven to provide an economic
resource to poor countries and it eliminates the burden on wild
caught species. And in addition to all of this, at times sponsoring
collecting expeditions is the only means to obtain elusive rarities
or a particular species.
Did you
know international laws govern the entire insect trade? If you import any insect, dead or
alive, there are licensing requirements, complex regulations, mandatory inspections and
declarations to file. There are great penalties, including prison, for violators. For
your protection and for our continued future in this field, we keep abreast of these
laws. If you have questions or concers, you can call the US Fish & Wildlife Service at
(703) 358 1949, or visit their website http://www.le.fws.gov/index.html
The
goal of this web site is
to introduce and promote this
fascinating family hobby and to offer everyone
in the world an educational and exciting web
site to visit.
But most of all we hope to stimulate your
imagination and arouse your curiosity about
our fascinating world of Butterflies And Things. Enjoy our web site and please
come back soon~

Butterfly Lady, Connie Hurt
